Endodontic Services at Mountain View, CA
One of the biggest concerns most people have about their dental health is their root canals. These minute passages in each tooth are home to nerve tissue and dental pulp or blood vessels that distribute the necessary nourishment to the nerves. These usually sterile canals can be damaged or infected by bacteria. Because of this, the tooth can easily perish.
The symptoms of this infection include swelling, gum soreness, darkening of the tooth, bone loss and excruciating pain.
Root Canal Treatment Procedure:
Root canal or endodontic treatment, as it is sometimes referred to, is a treatment done to the inside of the tooth. This usually becomes necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected.
The procedure will basically include the removing of inflamed or infected pulp. After which the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected. This is then filled and sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. Finally, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling for protection.
